What is Microblading?
Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing. It is the process of applying one at a time, individual hair-like strokes, following the directional growth of the natural eyebrow hair. This creates a semi perm tattoo, that makes it look more realistic. The application only goes 3 layers deep causing the strokes to stay softer more realistic, it just requires yearly touch up to keep the appearance tailored.

How often will I need to get it done?
Microblading is a 2 part process. The initial appointment is designing color, shape and followed by the application. Because we are only going so deep with this method, a touch up done in the 6 to 12 week margin after getting tattooed is need to lock in shape, color and help touch any areas that may have fallen out. After that you’ll just need an annual touch every 12 to 18 months to maintain shape. But it isn’t uncommon to come in as soon as 9 month depending on how your skin retains pigment.
How long do they last after the touch up?
After your touch up you should get 12 to 18 months of lasting brows before they begin to fade. But excessive sun exposure, oily skin, anti aging, anti acne, resin-a, lactic or glycolic acids can prematurely fade the brows. Some times just our metabolism can break the pigment down after sooner than estimated. The lighter the pigment and the more oily skin bases should expect to need their annual touch ups in a 9 to 13 month window. Dark brow pigment and less oily more dry skin types will probably need a touch up every 12 to 16 months.
Do I need to leave a deposit?
Yes! The deposit will come be deducted from the balance due at your touch up session. This is often referred to a "rolling deposit" Failure to not schedule your touch ups in a timely manor, no show, or lateness all may result in loss of your deposit. All deposits are NON REFUNDABLE
What if I can't make it in for the 6 to 10 weeks for the touch up?
You may be subjected to additional fees do and in some cases will be asked to leave another deposit. Please book your appointments accordingly.
*if you fail to book your follow up appointment within the 4 month window of your initial appointment, you be required to pay the original price of your brows.
**Failure to book your touch appointment, with a rolling deposit , within 5 months of initial appointment will result in loss of their deposit.
What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
You're allowed ONE rescheduling before the 72 hour notice deadline without penalty. Failure to give notice in the proper time frame you'll be subjected to a $50 rebooking fee, and possible loss of deposit. This rebooking fee will be applied each time you fail to give proper notice to reschedule your appointment. If you rebook more than 2 times, Shannon has the right to refuse you as a client and finish your tattoo.
For Philly rescheduling must be done 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Failure to give notice with the proper time to fill the dates you’re changing will result in loss of deposit. The day of how long will Microblading take? Will I be numbed?
I tell everyone clear off 3 hours for your appointment. It takes about an hour to 1.5 hours to tattoo you but we will be designing shape, pigment and going over aftercare. Please eat prior to your appointment to help keep your blood sugar levels stable. And yes, topical will be applied through out the process for your comfort.
Who might not be the best candidate for Microblading?
Oily skin can be worked on, but may heal to more of a powder look. It also may take additional touch ups, or earlier annual touch ups because pigment fades much faster with oily skin. Skin that keloids should not get microblading. Mature skin should seek a consultation prior to booking for approval.
Do you work on previously done brows?
Yes but a consolation must be had prior in order for approval, additional fees may be applied do to the nature of the project.
Im still breast feeding, can I get this done?
For new mother, the answer is no. Your immune system isn't able to work as it normally does to heal, cause its primary focus is producing milk and healing for the birth of the child. The chances of you getting infection and possibly spreading it to your baby is VERY HIGH.
For mothers whom are pro long breast feeding. for example your baby is 16 months. Please get a approval from your Doctor. I do require a note from your doctor saying your in the clear to get this done.
If I'm Pregnant, Can I get this done?
For the safety for you and the baby, No. But once the baby is born and done with breast feeding Ill be honored to do your brows!
What is the Pigment you use? Is it like Tattoo pigment?
My pigments are made for cosmetic tattooing. The base is different than traditional tattooing because we want it breakdown into the skin. This creates a more natural look. They do have a glycerin base, and contain Iron Oxides.
For Areolas it is a special formulated tattoo ink that is meant to be permanent. You lost your areolas once, no need to have to loose your areola yearly due to poor choice of pigment by your artist. And yes these pigments are MRI safe!
Is It MRI safe?
Yes! the main concern was the concentration of iron found in the pigment and how React in the MRI. the saturation levels used in the pigments are minimal that you shouldn't notice any different sensations. A healing tattoo my have a slightly warming sensation, but nothing that should burn. If your Doctor is concerned I can always provide the ms/ds sheets of each pigment used.
Who shouldn't get microblading?
those with the following
Shingles
Eczema
Those who keloid
hemophilia
under age clients (duhhh)
body dysmorphia
Who should seek a doctors approval before booking?
Do to possible complications with healing, if you have HIV/AIDS, glaucoma and or diabetes please take to your health care provider to get their opinion about risks in with your condition.
What age must you be to get paramedical tattooing?
You must be 18 with valid state id. NO EXCEPTIONS!
How long is an SMP session?
Each session is 2-4 hours depending on the work at hand. The first treatment is typically the longest as we are constructing the hairline and putting in the foundational layer. Each subsequent treatment is typically shorter, although this can vary based on retention of previous treatments
What is SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-surgical method of inserting organic plant-based pigment deposits through the dermal layer of the scalp. The pigment deposits replicate hair follicles and create the appearance of a full head of hair. If you are completely bald we provide the 5 o’clock shadow look; and if you are thinning or not satisfied from hair transplant results and require more density, SMP is for you.
Im a Women can I get SMP done? Or is this service for men only?
SMP IS FOR EVERYONE!! Cis men, Cis women, transgender, non binary. Hair loss and thinning effects everyone with heartbeat. Please don’t be shy on contacting Shannon about your hair thinning. She is here to help.
How many sessions will I need?
Scalp Micropigmentation is always done in a minimum of two treatments, both treatments one week apart. You may need up to 5 depending on the case. The first session may not deliver as a dramatic of result. We must work slow and steady to build up a proper natural looking hair follicle and avoid the pigment from bleeding together and creating a blocky look. After the second treatment you will see more of a completion. The third treatment 1-3 months after the second treatment where we add the finishing touches. after that we will gauge if you need additional appointments.
When should I expect to be back after my last session is completed?
Typically with clients we expect touch ups within the 3 to 5 years mark. There is normal wear and tear involved in the surface of the skin which causes it to lighten up over time.
How intense is the healing? Will I need to take time off from work?
Scalp Micropigmentation is non-invasive and nonsurgical. There is no downtime associated with it, you only need to follow the 4 day aftercare. Many of our clients come in for treatment and go back home on the same day, and start work again the following day.
How do I best protect my SMP from sunlight?
Overexposure to direct sunlight can cause the pigments to weaken, and overtime you will be damaging both the treatment and your scalp. Wear protective sunscreen or a hat whenever you are going out and expecting to be in direct sunlight for over an hour.
Do I need to cut my hair before the SMP treatment?
If we are doing a filler treatment or scar concealment, we typically request our clients to come in with the shortest hair length they are going to keep, unless requested otherwise. If you have class 6 or 7 hair loss, you would need to shave your head before you come in for treatment and maintain it at that length.
